Make life easier/more difficult for Singapore?
Easier
Describe the change
With increasing educational levels and the prevalence of social media, good and sensible internal and external public opinions about government policies can be easily and quickly distributed to the masses. More than simply accepting a new policy, many would like to understand why and how the policy came about.
Prominent non political individuals have been known to voice their thoughts on various matters which were shared by tens of thousands and seen by even more with many agreeing with the author.
Such online thoughts will slowly begin to carry more weight as we progress as a county into 2030 and will likely help policy makers understand and adjust their policies based how our citizens or the world might feel. This would probably give citizens a sense of ownership to any particular policy if it was changed based on their opinions or on opinions of others which they strongly agreed with.
In a way, policies can be "peer reviewed" by citizens to fine tune and improve them.
How will this change impact Smart Nation Singapore in 2030?
With the government accepting such feedback through non official channels, policies would probably end up changing a lot after implementation out but would also be more wholesome and widely accepted with people understanding why it was rolled out and how the policy was achieved.
