Pitch

Imagine eyewear that can spot those with infectious deseases or those with wearing bombs

Description

Make life easier/more difficult for Singapore?

Easier

Describe the change

We have fever scanners at airports. It's inevitable in these days of tourism and travel in an age of trans border epidemics. With  ZIKA and SARS looming ominously, and terrorist threats becoming inevitable, technology is forced to evolve faster to cope with the changing needs.
What if health workers and police officers could patrol the streets and subways looking out for those who might be infected with sicknesses that are highly contagious. Deployed only in extreme red alert scenarios, it will up the game for detection, prevention and quarantine.
Might the same technology also spot those carrying wearable bombs?

How will this change impact Smart Nation Singapore in 2030?

Privacy is a big thing here. The times have raised a generation sensitive to intrusive mistreatment. But with full body scanners already implemented at airports, it might be more socially acceptable if deployed at red-alert situations. This technology will actually reduce the need for more intrusive and indiscriminate body searches as it will be cursory screening on foot, like preventive patrols.   There is also the danger of this falling into wrong or inappropriate use. One will have to think through control measures and laws to prevent this.
