As Singapore transforms into a smart nation,many people will rely on new technologies and gadgets that will ease and support many functions of their lives.But on the contrary not many people will think about how are we going to charge our newest techs. Are we going to continue our conventional ways of burning fossil fuels in order to satisfy our demand for energy or are we going to push past our limits and create new breakthrough in renewable energy. Imagine if one day the floors of malls ,schools , roads are made of a electric generating material that could power traffic lights,the MRT or the houses we lived in. I believe such as day would possible and that's why we should push for green technology for us and our future generations.
How will this change impact Smart Nation Singapore in 2030?
As Singapore signs the Paris treaty , we as a nation is acknowledging to the fact that global warming is in fact real and is happening.Singapore is an low lying nation island and 30% of the island is 5 meters from the shore. I believe generating electricity by walking on a nationwide level we will reduce our reliance of fossil fuels. An average human walks about 7500 steps a day,this turns out to be 216,262,500 steps throughout our lifetime.To put his into perspective Singapore has around 5.399 million people assuming 90 percent of us walks that's about 4.86 million people that will provide about 36450000000 steps.This is just the steps for one day. I believe this technology will definitely reduce global warming.By Building electricity generating surfaces in roads,schools,building will also provide jobs for many Singaporeans boosting the economy.
