Description
Make life easier/more difficult for Singapore?
Easier
Describe the change
Key goal for Smart Nation is having low demands for resources such as the need for travel and work spaces.
We'll see significant advancements in collaborative technologies (e.g. video-conferencing, text to voice and vice versa, mind typing etc) by 2021.
With online communication and collaboration made easier, it rapidly gains trust and proliferation, making face to face meetings redundant.
By 2025, 'remote working' accelerates within our government, an initiative which also attempts to alleviate aging population issues. KPIs and reward structures are aligned to the new working culture i.e. not time but outcome based.
Working level and senior management use a common technology platform.
These represent an opportunity for professionals in civil service to have greater influence in their careers.
How will this change impact Smart Nation Singapore in 2030?
Mindsets shift from just completing routine tasks on time to working smarter and proactively creating innovative ideas on safe guarding and enriching Singaporeans lives.
By 2030, ministry/agency boundaries are no longer obvious.
The civic service are incentivised by conceptualising projects online based on productive and innovative ideas and outcome of the projects.
Project teams are also formed online based on individual aspiration, believes and expertise, not by ministry/agency.
By harnessing diverse cross-agency experts' knowledge, sharing of agencies' data and even engaging the public or private entitities, a new Smarter Singapore can be collectively created.
