Describe the change
Virtual Reality could easily be the next big thing in the future. From video games, tourism, sports to even in the porn industry. These areas have not been fully explored but it is undeniable that the potential is huge. It is a disruptive piece of technology that could possibly change our society and the way we interact.
Imagine the times when you wished you could have a rewind function that allows you to go back to the times to correct your mistakes. Pondering for hours whether asking her out by calling, texting or face to face is the best option. Which would have given the highest chance of success and how could things turn out differently? Virtual reality allows us to practice and rehearse in the most realistic possible scenario. This is easily beneficial when used correctly.
However, the danger lies in its insidious nature, when virtual reality prove more attractive than the actual world, where it could be used to escape the world where actions with consequences turns into fear.
How will this change impact Smart Nation Singapore in 2030?
Smart Nation Singapore 2030 would definitely see the rise in usage of VR goggles. First, it becomes a toy of the more affluent, next a tool to provide entertainment and rehabilitation, then a ubiquitous equipment for certain convenience it brings.
The Samsung VR gear released in 2016 was pretty advanced. It was able to bring us to an entirely different dimensions, to any space and time which we so desire.
The lifelike nature of VR could improve our human lives. However, the reverse could be true when used excessively to escape from the pain, suffering and stress. It becomes a drug, a pain killer that changes the social capabilities of human, resulting in a vicious cycle that makes us less of a human being.
Social interaction has undeniable been overwhelmed by technology, first reducing the need to speak with texting, the need to discuss our lives with social media, and finally perhaps, the need to even exist, with the advent of virtual reality.
