How would the world change if before trashing an appliance or a computer we could give it one last chance?

Describe the change
How long is the life of an appliance? Many researches agree that the average life of an appliance halved in the last ten years and following this path in the future we will be flooded with e-waste.
A recent trend in logistics is the use of RFIDs to track objects before they are sold. The new trend that I envision for Singapore is the use of the same RFIDs to track objects after they are sold and in particular at the end of their life.
How will this change impact Smart Nation Singapore in 2030?
The usage of RFID to track appliances when they are thrown in the garbage will help recycling them and reduce the amount of e-waste in the city of Singapore in 2030.
Special garbage trucks equipped with RFID readers, will collect e-waste, acquire the data contained in their RFIDs (like device model, production year, etc. ) and dynamically upload all the information on a website.
Then all the e-waste will be taken to special recycling points where citizens, after reserving a particular electronic device online, can take it for free.
Otherwise, If after a week, nobody as claimed an object then it will be thrown away following the standard recycling process for e-waste.
This will reduce the amount of e-waste in two ways. Less objects will be sent to the standard recycling process, and partially functional objects could be repaired using the e-waste, reducing even more the total amount of garbage.
