RAHS Sep 27, 2016 02:07 ![]() | Thank you for submitting your trend! Autonomous vehicles could revolutionize the way citizens commute, and undoubtedly bring about greater efficiency and convenience. Singapore is at the forefront of trialing driverless cars, with Grab and NuTonomy paving the way. Not only could time be better utilised, but it could provide transport options for a more varied group of people (E.g. Elderly, youths, handicapped) and enable to travel autonomously, instead of the limited options they currently have today. Caretakers may feel safer knowing that their charge is driven from point to point, being able to track their travels through mobile applications. However, if Singaporeans do not buy into the idea of car-sharing and continue to purchase their own vehicles, congestion could become a greater problem. The issue of "moral dilemma" with autonomous vehicles will inadvertently arise when accidents occur. Do you think the shift towards car-shared autonomous vehicles will change the mindset of Singaporeans with regard to car ownership? |
